“We started out with our mechanical downtime remaining around 9%, and in talks with Dan after the project for some needed guidance; we were able to sustain our mechanical downtime weekly at our budget of 2%”.
NOTE: In other words, we will continue to assist our clients, even after an engagement is complete.

R.E Reference Letter
I am writing this letter of recomendation for Dan Motill. I met Dan in January of 2013 while employed by PGW Glass, an OEM Automotive Glass Plant in Creighton Pennsylvania, where I was the Maintenance and Engineering Manager for 7 Years. I am currently a Project Lead Manufacturing and Robotics Engineer at Alcoa in New Kensington Pennsylvania.
My experience with Dan and his approach to Maintenance Effectiveness was a learning experience that was enjoyable and also very enlightening. Using the Maintenance Requirements Pyramid, he was able to easily show us where my Maintenance Departmebt was not functioning at an acceptable level. His approach was not an indictment of me or my staff, but a realistic picture of how we were functioning.
Using the Maintenance Requirements Pyramid as a starting point, we embarked on a program to address the areas that needed to be improved or to be addressed all together. We needed to work on the basic building blocks of the Pyramid before we could advance up to the more advanced areas. We imple, ented a robust planning meetings, supervisor routines, anddaily reviews of critical KPI's to address downtime occurrences. We started out with our mechanical downtime remaining around 9% and in talks with Dan after the project for some needed guidance; we were able to sustain our mechanical downtime weekly at our budget of 2%.
Also, one of our biggest success stories going through the transformation was that our mechanics were actively involved daily in helping us becoming better at estimating our work orders. Numerous times we had mechanics come to us and say that we overestimated the time on work orders, even giving us the actual time needed to complete.
I would highly recommend, anyone or organization, to utilize Dan and his experience to assist in taking your organization to the next level of effective maintenance and operations.

Mark Petterson
